I know we all have finals-addled brains right now, so here’s a helpful reminder: Mother’s Day is a week from tomorrow, May 11. This gives you plenty of time to schedule a quick trip to Hallmark to pick up a card between Capanna and House of Aromas, address and mail the card, and have it arrive on time. Even if you’re all anti-establishment and think it’s a stupid commercialized holiday, your mom probably doesn’t. No money? Send a free e-card. (Bonus: since they’re free, you can also send them to grandmas, aunts, motherly neighbors, sorority pledge moms, single fathers who function as both mothers and fathers, pregnant friends, et cetera.) See? No excuses.
Reminder!

Thanks for the reminder. See, my mother has this odd obsession with greeting cards. I, on the other hand, feel that greeting cards are a complete waste of paper. Thus, the e-card has single handedly taken me from ‘ungrateful ingrate’ to ‘daughter of the year.’ Now, if only I could get a similar reminder to file my taxes….let’s hope the state of Iowa is as forgiving as my mother
Oh my gosh, thank you for the reminder. I would have forgotten this, no doubt.
The best was when I said, “Okay, Mom, see you on the 15th,” and she responded, “I won’t see you sooner?” And I said, “No, Mom, I have a lot to take care of before I leave Iowa City for the summer and gas is expensive …”
IDIOT. She never even hinted as to why I should see her sooner. I am a terrible daughter.
