          Attorney Ruth E. Kochard,  an equine law specialist, has joined the faculty of HorseCoursesOnline.com, the world’s leading provider of online equine study curriculum for colleges and universities.  Kochard is the instructor for the equine study course Legal Aspects of Horse Management.

          A cum laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire and the Pace University School of Law, Kochard formed her own law practice in Richmond, VA, where she continues to both train and show hunters for her personal enjoyment.  For several years she owned and managed Windan Farm, offering training, sales, riding instruction and boarding.

          Her Legal Aspects course includes lessons on the formation of a horse business, the general principles of “negligence” faced by trainers, instructors and boarding facilities, contracts for services and sales, and horse-related legislation.  “If you are involved with horses, sooner or later you are going to be involved with legal issues,” Kochard says.  “It’s always better to be informed (close the barn door) before the horse gets out,” she advises.
